If you have real damage, bring it out

This morning I was watching MSNBC's reporting on the hurricane in New Orleans. Their helicopter flew over a race track and a shopping center. The roof had blown off the racetrack grandstand and the parking lot was flooded. "Unbelieveable damage," intoned the reporter.

For God's sake. It was a category 5 hurricane and the reporter finds it "unbelievable" that a parking lot is flooded and a roof is missing. If there is serious damage by all means show it to us, but get a grip.

Update 9/7/05: Now that the full disaster is apparent on everyone's TV screen, it's remarkable how much less often you hear the word "unbelievable." It's all too believable and it is just what was predicted.
